Rope (1948) Monday, October 12, 5pm

Although not a box office success upon initial release, this dark crime thriller’s reputation has grown more favorable in the decades since. Probably the most experimental movie Hitchcock ever attempted, Rope tells the story of two friends who plan and carry out “the perfect murder” to prove it can be done. Stars Jimmy Stewart playing against type as a cold, cynical intellectual. 1hr. 20 mins., Not rated
