Busch Annapolis Library Fall Film Series: Alfred Hitchcock – Master of Suspense

This month we’ll delve deeper into the rich catalog of films directed by the great Alfred Hitchcock. Each movie is introduced by area cinephile Ann Glenn with info about the film’s background and production and followed by an always lively discussion period.

Notorious (1946) Monday, October 19, 5pm

Hitchcock’s complex post-WW II espionage thriller blends dark romance with a critique of U.S. intelligence operations. Considered by film scholars to be the director’s first attempt at a serious, adult love story, the film stars Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman and features a memorable performance by Claude Rains as an unexpectedly sympathetic villain. 1 hr. 42 mins., Not rated
